
Michigan State to Play Loyola Chicago in Battle 4 Atlantis First Round

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team will play Loyola Chicago in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday, Nov. 24 in Nassau, The Bahamas.
The Spartans will play the Ramblers on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at noon (ET) on ESPN in the first game of the tournament. The winner of the MSU-Loyola game will the winner of a game between Auburn and UConn on Thursday, Nov. 24, also at noon (ET) on ESPN. The losing teams play on Thursday, Nov. 25 at 2:30 p.m. (ESPN/2).
The matchups in the other half of the bracket include Syracuse against VCU and Baylor playing Arizona State.
The game against Loyola Chicago will feature a familiar face on the sideline as the Ramblers will be led by first-year head coach Drew Valentine, who served as a graduate assistant at Michigan State under Head Coach Tom Izzo from 2013-15. He is the older brother of former Spartans All-American Denzel Valentine.
This will be the 13th all-time meeting between Michigan State and Loyola Chicago. The Spartans lead the head-to-head series, 10-2, and have won the last five meetings. The last game was an 87-52 MSU win at the Breslin Center on Nov. 21, 2014.
The Spartans have a 3-4 all-time record against UConn and a 1-0 mark against Auburn.
This will be Michigan State's second trip to The Bahamas to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Spartans appeared in the tournament in 2016. MSU beat St. John's in the opening round, lost to Baylor in the semifinals and bounced back to beat Wichita State.
