Spartan Men's Soccer Unveils 2021 Schedule

MSU returns to a 16-game regular season slate.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head coach Damon Rensing announced the Spartans' fall 2021 schedule on Friday. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spartans were forced to play an abbreviated a 10-game conference only-schedule last spring.
MSU will take on four teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season, including Bowling Green, Indiana, Maryland and Penn State. The Hoosiers reached the College Cup final, falling to eventual champion Marshall.
Michigan State opens the season with four-straight home games against Cleveland State (Aug. 26), Akron (Aug. 30), Oakland (Sept. 3) and Bowling Green (Sept. 6). The Spartans will then hit the road for a trio of road contests. MSU travels to Tulsa on Sept. 10 before facing Notre Dame on Sept. 14. The Spartans will close out the road swing in their Big Ten opener against Wisconsin on Sept. 17.
The Green and White then will return to DeMartin Stadium for a trio of contests, beginning with a non-conference match-up with Duquesne on Sept. 21. The homestand concludes with battles against Big Ten Champion Indiana (Sept. 26) and Penn State (Oct. 1).
The battle of the Big Bear Trophy resumes after a year hiatus when the Spartans travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Oct. 5, as part of three-straight road games. MSU will also play at Rutgers (Oct. 10) and at Western Michigan (Oct. 13).
Michigan State will conclude the home portion of the regular-season schedule against Ohio State on Oct. 17 and Maryland on Oct. 22. MSU ends the regular season at Northwestern on Oct. 31.
The Spartans completed the spring season with a 4-6 record, including a win over No. 20 Penn State. Michigan State returns its top scorers, including leading scorers Jack Beck and Olu Ogunwale. Netminder Hunter Morse also returns for the Spartans having played in eight of MSU's 10 games last year.
