Michigan State Holds First Practice of 2021-22 Season

East Lansing, Mich. – The Michigan State men's basketball team conducted its first official practice of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
Prior to the practice, head coach Tom Izzo met with the media for 30 minutes and talked about the excitement that surrounds the team as he enters his 27th season.
"It's our first day, it's an exciting day," Izzo said. "It's a little different now, because we get to practice during the summer, four hours a week, but it's been a great summer for us. I'm sure most coaches say that all the time, the weight room was a really interesting place. I always say it's a character building place and I think we built a lot of character."
The men's and women's basketball teams will hold an Open Practice at the Breslin Center on Saturday, October 2 ahead of the Spartans' Homecoming football game against Western Kentucky at 7:30 p.m.
Michigan State opens the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 9, playing Kansas in the Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The men's basketball team will host a pair of exhibition games, first on Wednesday, Oct. 27 against Ferris State, and then on Thursday, Nov. 4 against Grand Valley State.
