Spartan Women's Basketball Opens Practice Wednesday

East Lansing, Mich. - Head coach Suzy Merchant and the Michigan State women's basketball team opened practice on Wednesday afternoon at the Breslin Center.
The Spartans return 84% of their scoring from last season, including its top seven scorers. Nia Clouden is back for her senior season after leading the team in scoring 2020-21 with 18.7 ppg. It was the most points per game by a Spartan since Tori Jankoska averaged 22.6 ppg during the 2016-17 season.
Both Spartan basketball teams will hold an Open Practice at the Breslin Center on Saturday, October 2 ahead of the Spartans' Homecoming football game against Western Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. The women will take the floor at 2:15 and will hold an open practice for an hour.
Doors to the Breslin Center will open at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
The Spartans will begin exhibition action on Sunday, Oct. 31 against Northwood at 2 p.m.
