On the play of Stephanie Visscher…
Right now Steph is our best defensive rebounder, which is a good thing but we have to continue to grow on that. I think she has a really good knack for the ball, and I think she did a really good job in that aspect which helps us run our break. She keeps it simple, she's mature, she's a smart player, and she takes the right shot. It was good to see her shake the cobwebs off playing in a new system.Â
On the 3pt shooting early and depth of the team…
I was getting into them because they were wide open, at some point it's not hockey, we were not trying to get shots on goal, I'm five decades in and I could shoot it towards the basket too. We have depth which is great but at the same time we are trying to find the best five together. Sometimes it's not your best five players and that's something we have to figure out, finding everybody's role. The positives is that you have depth but the negatives are that it is tough to define roles because if people aren't performing we just put the next guy in.Â
On the message for the young girls in the crowd today…
Tell them to come back and join the MVP club, it's a really neat opportunity for them to get connected to some really cool role models. It's one thing to come to the game but it's another when they go back home and talk to their parents and go online and look at our MVP club they will have access to some really neat young ladies who really worked hard and laid it on the line to get to the next level. If they ever want to get to that next level they will be able to ask them questions and get to know them a little better. I would tell them to come back but come back as MVP club members.Â
On playing 6 games in 12 days…
The depth is something people have to buy into, people have to be okay with the fact that night in night out they might not play 25 or 30 minutes. This gives us the ability to spread things out, we went through a season where we had to play people out of position, so we have to come to the mindset where depth is a positive thing and who emerges from that and are the most consistent from that will build our rotation.
