Hauser Helps Lead Michigan State Past Brown, 68-50

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Graduate forward Joey Hauser scored 22 points to lead three players in double figures as Michigan State beat Brown, 66-43, on Saturday afternoon at the Breslin Center.

Hauser, who passed the 1,000-point mark for his career, hit 9-of-13 shots while adding five rebounds and four assists to lead the Spartans. Junior guard A.J. Hoggard scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds and had four assists, while senior guard Tyson Walker added 10 points and sophomore guard Jaden Akins finished with nine points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman guard Tre Holloman led the team with six assists.

Brown's Paxson Wojcik, the son of Michigan State assistant coach Doug Wojcik, scored 10 points, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and had four assists.

Michigan State led by 14 points at the break, 32-18, and pushed the lead to 20 points, 44-24, six minutes into the second half on a layup from sophomore guard Pierre Brooks with 13:56 to play.
Hauser scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half, hitting a jumper with 10:59 to play to make it 48-31, and give him his 1,00th career point.
A 3-pointer from Akins and a fastbreak layup from Hoggard with 9:45 to play gave MSU a 53-31 lead.

A 3-pointer from Wojcik early in the first half gave Brown a 5-2 lead, but MSU responded with a 7-0 run to take a 9-5 lead on a trey from Walker.
Leading 11-10 after a Wojcik layup, the Spartans used a 11-2 run to take a 22-10 lead on a layup from Brooks with 6:33 left in the half.
Akins hit a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left to give MSU the 32-18 lead.
