Michigan State goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, MIch.) has been a Big Ten Star of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten office on Tuesday morning.Â
Â
St. Cyr earned the week's Third Star honors after the Spartans split the weekend series with No. 6-7 Michigan, with each team earning a 2-1 win on their home ice. St. Cyr made 22 saves in the Friday victory at Munn, several of the highlight-reel variety, and came back with 25 in the one-goal loss in Ann Arbor the next night.Â
Â
Â
Â
On the season, the graduate student shares the Big Ten lead with a .925 save percentage (15th nationally) and owns a 2.43 goals against average. He ranks third in the Big Ten in victories (11), which matches his career best.Â
Â
St Cyr secures one of the three stars honors for the third time this season, the most for a Spartan player since John Lethemon had four in the 2019-20 season.Â
Â
MSU is in a 15-day hiatus for exams and a holiday break, and own a 12-7-1 overall record. MSU has already matched its 2021-22 win total and has been in the DCU/USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls for the fifth straight week, peaking at a consensus No. 11 in both surveys this week.Â
Â
The Spartans return to action on Dec. 27-28 at the Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids. MSU will take on (RV) Ferris State in the first round at 7 pm on the 27th, and either No. 17 Michigan Tech or No. 18 Western Michigan in the second day of action.Â
