Ann Arbor, Mich. – Michigan State fell behind by 16 points at the half and could not recover in an 87-70 loss at Michigan on Tuesday night at the Crisler Center.

Senior forward Gabe Brown scored 12 points to lead the Spartans, while junior guard Tyson Walker added 11 points and four assists.

- Michigan State trailed by 16 points (44-28) at the break and were down by 22 points, 55-33, after a 3-pointer from Michigan's Caleb Houstan early in the second half.
- Trailing 62-41 after a basket from Hunter Dickinson with 12:51 to play, the Spartans went on a 10-2 run and pulled to within 64-51 on a basket from Gabe Brown.
- Freshman guard Max Christie made it a 12-point game when he hit a jumper with 8:00 left, making it 67-55, but Dickinson would score 13 points in the final eight minutes to help the Wolverines pull away.
- The Spartans went into halftime down 16 points, 44-28, after Michigan connected on 60.7 percent of its first half shots (17-of-28), including 62.5 percent of its 3-pointers.
- A 3-pointer from Joey Hauser gave MSU an early 11-9 lead, but the Wolverines went on a 14-0 run and took a 23-11 after a jumper from Dickinson with 13:02 to play, forcing a Spartans timeout.
- MSU responded with a 7-2 run and pulled to within seven points, 25-18, on a driving layup from Malik Hall with 10:32 left.
- The Spartans trailed by nine points, 33-24, after two of three free throws from Hall with 7:34 left, but UM went on an 8-0 run and extended its lead to 41-24 after a basket from Dickinson.
