"It's disappointing to have a lead going into the final round and lose it, but I'm proud of the way our guys played on the back and never quit," Head Coach Casey Lubahn said. "We fell behind early in the morning, but we never let them get away, so we had a chance to get back there. It's disappointing, but it's good to get in that competitive mode as we wrap up the season and get ready for the Big Ten Championships."
Sophomore August Meekhof was the top finisher for the Spartans, tying for sixth place at 2-over par 215, including a 2-over par 73 on Sunday.
Junior Brad Smithson shot a 6-over par 77 in the final round and finished in a tie for eighth place at 5-over par 216.
Freshman Ashton McCulloch tied for 11th place with a two-day score of 4-over par 217, finishing with a 4-over par 75 on Sunday.
Senior Troy Taylor posted a 1-over par 72 in Sunday's final round, Michigan State's best round of the day, and finished in 14th place at 5-over par 218.
Senior Parker Jamieson posted an 8-over par 79 in the final round and tied for 77th place at 24-over par 237.
