Men’s Golf in Seventh Place at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team is in seventh place among 13 teams after two rounds of play at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, being hosted by Ohio State at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
The Spartans finished the first day of play with a two-round score of 4-over par 580, posting scores of 3-over par 291 and 1-over par 289, respectively.
Illinois leads the field at 23-under par 553, seven shots ahead of host Ohio State, in second at 16-under par 560. Penn State and Northwestern are tied for third at 9-under par 567, with Kent State fifth at 8-under par 568.
Sophomore August Meekhof and senior Troy Taylor lead the Spartans, standing in a tie for 25th place with scores of 1-over par 145. Both players went 1-over par 73 in the first round and finished with scores of even-par 72.
Freshman Ashton McCulloch is tied for 34th place at 1-over par 145, with a 1-under par 71 in the first roujnd.
Junior Brad Smithson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) is tied for 41st place at 3-over par 147 and senior James Piot (Canton, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) is tied for 49th place at 2-over par 148.
Playing as individuals, junior Pierce Morrissey is tied for 66th place at 7-over par 151 and senior Parker Jamieson is in 80th place at 14-over par 158.
The Spartans tee off in the final round on Sunday between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m., playing with Michigan and Rutgers.
