Spartans Finish Seventh at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State shot a 1-over par 289 on Sunday and finished in seventh place among 13 teams at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
The Spartans finished the tournament with a three-day, 54-hole score of 5-over par 869 (291-289-289).
Illinois shot a 30-under par 834 to win the tournament by 13 shots, ahead of host Ohio State, who finished second at 17-under par 847. Northwestern was third at 9-under par 855, while Kent State and Penn State tied for fourth place at 7-under par 857.
Final Results
Senior James Piot posted the best round of the day for the Spartans, firing a 2-under par 70.
Piot finished in a tie for 28th place at 2-over par 218, alongside two teammates, freshman Ashton McCulloch and sophomore August Meekhof. McCulloch finished with an even-par 72 on Sunday, while Meekhof posted a 1-over par 73.
Senior Troy Taylor and junior Brad Smithson each posted scores of 2-over par 74 in the final round on Sunday. Taylor finished in a tie for 34th place at 3-over par 219 and Smithson tied for 44th place at 5-over par 221.
Playing as individuals, junior Pierce Morrissey tied for 58th place at 9-over par 225 and senior Parker Jamieson finished in 81st place at 15-over par 241.
Michigan State next plays in the Big Ten Championships from Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1 at the French Lick Resort in Indiana.
