
Dr. Ashley Baker Receives MOAA Charles Whitcomb Service Award

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) is proud to announce Michigan State University Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, Dr. Ashley Baker, as the 2022 MOAA Charles Whitcomb Service Award recipient.
The MOAA Charles Whitcomb Service Award recognizes and celebrates individuals that foster diversity and inclusion within the intercollegiate athletics community. The recipient of this award will be recognized at the MOAA Symposium each year.
Dr. Baker holds a B.A. in Business and a M.Ed. in Sport Administration from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), and a Ph.D. in Sport Management and Policy from the University of Georgia (UGA). As Chief DEI Officer she leads and coordinates diversity, equity and inclusion planning for Spartan Athletics, while simultaneously developing workshops and presentations surrounding equitable and inclusive practices in higher education. She was hired by MSU in November 2020.
Prior to MSU she worked at Xavier University of Louisiana in two capacities. Most recently serving as the Chief Inclusion Officer and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the Division of Student Affairs. She began at Xavier as a senior administrator in the athletics department where she oversaw the internal business operations, coordinated academic support, and managed gameday operations. Her early career was spent at BGSU where she led the Office of Student-Athlete Services.Â
Dr. Baker will be recognized at the 2022 MOAA Symposium on Sunday, June 26 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.
