Men’s Golf in Ninth Place after Second Round at NCAA Bryan Regional

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team shot a 7-over par 295 in the second round and is in ninth place among 13 teams after two rounds of play at the NCAA Bryan Regional, being held at the Traditions Club in Texas.
The Spartans have a two-day, 36-hole total of 12-over par 588.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament concludes on Wednesday morning. The top five teams from each regional will then advance to the national championships, to be played from May 27 to June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Second Round Results
Arizona, seeded sixth in the 13-team field, leads the regional at 13-under par 563, three shots ahead of host Texas A&M and Georgia, tied for second place at 10-under par 566. Pepperdine, the top seed in the field, is in fourth place at 8-under par 568 and Oregon State rounds out the top-five teams at 1-under par 575.
Sophomore August Meekhof shot a 2-over par 74 on Tuesday and is tied for 21st place at even-par 144 to lead the Spartans. He had four birdies, two bogies and parred three holes on the front to finish at 2-under par, but struggled on the back, finishing the final nine holes at 4-over par.
Senior James Piot, who had a 4-over par 76 on Monday, bounced back with a 3-under 69 in the second round and is tied for 26th place at 1-over par 145. Piot opened his round with a bridie on the first hole and posted two more on the front to play it at 3-under par. He had three birdies and three bogies on the back to complete the day at 3-under par.
Senior Troy Taylor, who fired a 1-under par 71 on Monday, is tied for 44th place at 5-over par 149. He shot a 6-over par 78 on Tuesday, with 11 pars and one birdie.
Freshman Ashton McCulloch posted a 2-over par 74 in the second round and is tied for 49th place at 6-over par 150. McCulloch finished the front nine at even-par with one birdie and completed his round with 12 pars and two birdies.
Junior Bradley Smithson posted a 7-over par 79 for the second-straight day and is in 66th place at 14-over par 158.
The Spartans will tee off on Wednesday, playing alongside Tennessee and SMU.
