Jarvie and Riccardo Selected for USA Field Hockey’s Senior Nexus Championship

Event Serves as a Step in the Olympic Development Pathway Program
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State field hockey players Hannah Jarvie and Celina Riccardo were among the 144 athletes selected to participate in next month's 2022 Senior Nexus Championship (NXC), as was announced by USA Field Hockey late Thursday.
Presented by Osaka Hockey, the Senior NXC is being held at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. from July 17 to 22.
Formerly known as the Young Women's National Championship, the Senior NXC is held annually and features over 100 elite high school, collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey High Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC, a step along the Olympic Development Pathway program. All athletes that were previously on the Rise, U-21, Development and Senior U.S. Women's National Team were also included within the selection.
The event will start with a team training session on Sunday, July 17 with games starting on Monday, July 18. The opportunity to be selected for the 2022-23 U.S. Women's National Team and Junior USWNT Selection Camps are at stake.
Both rising seniors, Jarvie and Riccardo enter the 2022 season as two of the most experienced Spartans on the MSU roster. Riccardo has started 48 of her 49 appearances for the Green and White, pacing the Spring 2021 squad with three goals. For Jarvie, she has played in 35 games for head coach Helen Knull over three seasons, put together a break-out campaign in the fall of 2021 with seven starts and three goals.
Michigan State opens the 2022 regular season on Aug. 26, playing host to American University at Ralph Young Field.
