EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer player Lauren Kozal was named to the NCAA Division I Goalkeepers to Watch list by the United Soccer Coaches.
The senior from Ada, Michigan, was one of 13 Division I goalkeepers named to the watch list. She is the only representative from the Big Ten.
The lists are being compiled and released for the first time this season by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second team All-Region players from 2021, who are scheduled to return for the 2022 season.
Kozal's 2021 campaign was a breakout season, earning multiple awards. She was selected first-team All-Big Ten and was named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year. It was the first-ever Goalkeeper of the Year honor awarded to a member of the Spartans and the first position player of the year for MSU since 2008's Laura Heyboer.
She went on to earn United Soccer Coaches third-team All-American honors at the conclusion of the season.
The Spartans open up exhibition action on Saturday, Aug. 6 against Wright State at 4 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium. Admission is free.
