Michigan State in 11th Place After First Day at Fighting Irish Classic

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team shot a 2-under par 278 in the second of two rounds on Sunday and is in 11th place among 15 teams after the first day of play at the Fighting Irish Classic, being played at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
Day One Results
The two-day, 54-hole course wraps up on Monday, with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
The Spartans are in 11th place with a two-round score of 4-over par 564.
Florida leads the field at 17-under par 543, with North Carolina second at 15-under par 545. Georgia Southern and LSU are tied for third place at 8-under par 552 and host Notre Dame rounds out the top five teams at 7-under par 553.
Junior August Meekhof is MSU's top finisher, standing in a tie for 27th place at 1-under par 139. He posted scores of even par 70 and 1-under par 69.
Fifth year Troy Taylor II and senior Drew Hackett are tied for 34th place with scores of even-par 140. Both golfers shot a 1-under par 71 in the first round and bounced back with scores of 1-under par 69.
Sophomore Ashton McCulloch is tied for 56th place at 5-over par 145 and senior Bradley Smithson shot a 7-over par 147 and is tied for 63rd place.
The Spartans will tee off on Monday, playing alongside Kent State and California, starting at 8:30 a.m.
