• MSU opens the second half of Big Ten play at Ohio State.  MSU leads the all-time series by a 94-54-13 margin, which includes a 42-27-6 record in games played in Columbus. MSU earned a sweep over the then-No. 10/11 Buckeyes in East Lansing back in October, taking 4-2 and 4-3 victories.  The teams split last year's series at the Schottenstein Center.
•  MSU enters the second half of the Big Ten slate at 12-9-1 and 6-5-1 in the Conference standings (20 points).  MSU had a December of high-caliber opponents with five of six games against ranked teams, the first four games against squads ranked in the top 10 (Minnesota and Michigan).  The Spartans have taken points out of five of their six B1G weekends, and has matched its win total for all of 2021-22 (12), the most since 2019-20 (15 wins)  MSU last finished over .500 in 2014-15 (17-16-2). Â
•  MSU's offense averaged 2.11 goals per game in 2021-22, scoring 76 times.  Through 22 games, the current MSU squad has 68 goals, averaging 3.09 goals per contest - fifth in the Big Ten (24th nationally).  With 68 goals through 22 games, the Spartans are on pace to score 112 goals (based on a minimum of 36 games).  Sixteen different players have scored MSU's 68 goals,  with eight having at least five scores.  A total of 20 skaters have at least one point on the year.
•  MSU's top line of Karsen Dorwart centering  Jagger Joshua and Daniel Russell are three of the top four scorers for MSU, with a combined 21 goals and 54 points.  Each of the trio has seven goals, tied with defenseman Cole Krygier for the team lead.  Dorwart centers the Spartan top line, and shares the squad's points lead with classmate Russell, tied for sixth in the Big Ten with 20 points.  The pair were linemates in Sioux City last season before coming to MSU, and each have 13 assists on the season, which is second on the team and ranked in a tie for eighth in the B1G.  The duo is also sharing the team lead in game-winning goals (2) with classmate Tiernan Shoudy, and are tied for 11th in the Big Ten in points per game (0.91).
• Senior Nicolas Müller has increased his team lead to 16 assists, which is tied for second in the B1G and eighth nationally.  Müller's 3-16-19 scoring line contains single-season bests in all three offensive categories.  He is also the team leader in power play points, (9) on a goal and eight assists.  No other player has more than six points on the power play this season.Â
•  Cole Krygier has three goals over the last four MSU games, including a pair against Ferris State for his first career multiple-goal game.  He has established a new career best with seven goals on the season.  His 7-2-9 scoring line this season (+6) is two points shy of his career best while his seven goals ranks in a tie for fourth among Division I defensemen in goals this season .
