Four in Double Figures as Michigan State Beats Hillsdale, 85-43

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State opened up a 27-point lead at halftime, had four players score in double figures and 12 score at least one point in an 85-43 exhibition win over Hillsdale College on Wednesday night at the Breslin Center.

Sophomore center Carson Cooper led the way with 13 points and seven rebounds, while graduate guard Tyson Walker added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Junior guard Jaden Akins added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals and freshman forward Coen Carr scored 12 points with three rebound and two blocks.

Michigan State led by 27 points, 47-20, at halftime but called a timeout just over two minutes in and the Spartans responded with a 12-4 run to take a 67-27 lead on a conventional three-point play from Sissoko with 11:07 to play.
A second-chance layup from Carr with 2:23 left in the game gave Michigan State a 47-point lead, 83-36, its biggest of the game.
Graduate guard Steven Izzo closed out the scoring for the Spartans, hitting a pair of free throws with 54 seconds left.
The Spartans jumped out to a 47-20 lead at halftime, with 11 different players scoring and MSU connecting on 63.3 percent (19-of-30) of its field goals.
Cooper led the way with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots, while Walker and Holloman scored 7 points apiece.
The Spartans led from the start and took an 18-3 lead at the 15:44 mark after the fourth of four 3-pointers, the last by Holloman.
Michigan State had its biggest lead, 47-18, on a dunk from Cooper with 41 seconds left before the break.

Notes

This is the third time Michigan State and Hillsdale have played an exhibition game, with the Spartans winning games previously in 2011 and 2017.
