Click "Game Notes" above to see the entire notes packet for the weekend.Â
• • Michigan State puts a month of non-conference action in the rear-view window and opens Big Ten play at Ohio State.  Michigan State is 96-56-13 all-time in the Ohio State series, and 42-27-6 against the Buckeyes in Columbus.  Ohio State is 3-1-3 on the season, and 0-1-1 in B1G play.
•   Michigan State hockey will observe a month-long "Spartan Hockey Strong" campaign that will put a spotlight on cancer awareness and honor those who have been affected by the disease.  The players and coaches will wear Spartans Full Strength pins/helmet stickers throughout the month of November in addition to several opportunities to honor cancer survivors, caregivers, and those who have battled the disease during MSU's home games. Â
•  MSU has scored 34 goals, and its 4.25 goals per game is ranked second in the Big Ten and 10th nationally. The Spartans also rank second in the Big Ten (and nationally) in assists (62) and points (96). All 24 Spartan skaters have played at least one game, 20 players have scored at least one point, and MSU has five players averaging a point per game. Â
•  The all-sophomore line of Karsen Dorwart centering Isaac Howard and Daniel Russell was the top-producing trio last weekend (3-3-6). Dorwart had three goals and is now tied with Russell for the team lead (5, fourth B1G).  Howard picked up three assists for the second straight weekend and now has a 1-8-9 scoring line.  He shares the team lead in assists with Nicolas Müller, and their eight assists ranks fifth in the Big Ten and tied for sixth nationally. Â
•  The line of Red Savage centering Joey Larson and Gavin O'Connell is one point behind the Howard-Dorwart-Russell trio (26 points) as MSU's top-scoring trio overall.  They have a combined 25 points on the year (10g, 15a). Savage had a goal and an assist in the BC series and sits atop the Spartan scoring leaders with 11 points (four goals, seven assists).  He is sixth in the Big Ten both points and points per game (1.38, 31st nationally), and he is tied for seventh in the B1G in assists per game (0.88).  Â
 • Senior blueliner Nash Nienhuis owns a 2-5-7 scoring line, hovering just below a point per game.  He has a shorthanded goal and leads the squad with two game-winners, which is second in the B1G and fifth nationally.  Nienhuis is paired with freshman Artyom Levshunov on the blueline, and the duo is tied for the points lead among the team's defensemen. Levshunov had an assist last weekend at BC to push his scoring line to 3-4-7 and he leads the squad with a +9. Â
