On exceptional shooting and it's significance…Â
"That was really good. I think a byproduct of that was that we took open threes and threes from inside out, and feet-set threes. I was teasing them, I told them we shot threes better than free throws. Next time, hopefully we can shoot them both well."Â
On breaking school shooting record…Â
"I found that out after the game, and that is incredible. I give a lot of credit to Detroit Mercy, as they are an incredibly improved team compared to last season. They've had two big wins and took Butler at home right down to the wire. For us to shoot at that high of a percentage, I credit it to us moving the ball and shooting shots that we work on in practice. I thought we did a lot of those things well, and the shooting was a byproduct of that."Â
On upcoming game…Â
"The process of the season is the process of the season. There will be a lot of things that we take from this and that we have improved a lot on from our first game. You have to keep getting better. The season is full of peaks and valleys. You cannot sit too high or too low. You have to have a mindset of growing and learning and we will get another chance to show that Sunday."Â
On what sparked the good shooting…Â
"Good ball movement. That was something we came in and put a big focus on. It is a make-or-miss game. The more space you have, the better the offense is. Something we've talked a lot since our staff got here was getting in the gym and shooting. You need to be able to make open shots."Â
On DeeDee's improvements…Â
"DeeDee is electric. When she gets the ball on the move, she is very hard to guard. Now with the way she has been consistently shooting the ball, it changes her game. When she has space and people have to guard her tight, the court is more open and she's done a great job at taking great shots and creating for other people. Tonight, she had seven assists and one turnover. She is doing a great job of doing both."Â
On reaching 100 points…Â
"I was teasing them. We were at 99 points twice. We were excited, but it's a long season. You have to savor good things and good moments, but you also can't sit on them too long."Â
On the tremendous defense tonight…Â
"Hopefully we can get it for forty minutes. Tonight, we had it for about thirty minutes. There is an ability to keep doing it and that is part of applying good pressure. Teams start to have good plans for it. When you do it right with the right number of people, I think our depth is an advantage of being able to consistently pressure. Over time, you can wear other people out. That's what we did tonight over the last three."Â
