Three Spartans Earn All-Big Ten Accolades

Ekh, Hagemann and McDaniel all captured honorable mention honors.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Three Michigan State women's basketball players were named to the All-Big Ten team Tuesday, as voted on by both the league's 14 coaches and the media, and announced by the conference office.
Sophomore guards Matilda Ekh and DeeDee Hagemann both garnered honorable mention All-Big Ten accolades by both the coaches and the media. Graduate guard Kamaria McDaniel earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition by the media.
Ekh, a native of Vasteras, Sweden, earned her second-straight honorable mention honor. She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.3 ppg. She leads the team in 3-point field goals made with 68, which is tied for ninth all-time in the MSU record books. Ekh is currently third in the Big Ten in 3-point field goals made (2.5) and 3-point field goal percentage (39.8 percent).
Hagemann, who hails from Detroit, Michigan, is averaging 8.7 ppg this season. She leads the team with a 139 assists. Her 5.0 assists per game average is fifth in the conference. Hagemann also stands second in the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (2.7).
McDaniel, a guard from Inkster, Michigan captured All-Big Ten honors for the second time in his career. She earned first-team All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore at Penn State during the 2019-20 season. She leads MSU in scoring, averaging 13.7 ppg. McDaniel has seven 20+ games for the Spartans this season, including a season-high 29 points against Wisconsin on Feb. 8.
Freshman guard Theryn Hallock was named Michigan State's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
In head coach Suzy Merchant's 16 seasons, Michigan State has now earned 52 All-Big Ten selections. MSU has had at least two players earn All-Big Ten honors in 15 of the last 16 seasons.
Iowa's Caitlin Clark earned Big Ten Player of the Year by the both coaches and the media. Ohio State's Cotie McMahon captured Freshman of the Year by both the coaches and media. Iowa's Hannah Stuelke was named Sixth Player of the Year, while Indiana's Mackenzie Holmes was the Defensive Player of the Year. Indiana's Teri Moren earned Coach of the Year honors by both the media and the coaches.
No. 9-seeded Michigan State will face No. 8-seeded Nebraska in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m. ET at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
