MSU Men’s Soccer Completes Exhibition Schedule at No. 5 Pitt

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer will conclude the 2023 exhibition portion of its schedule with a tough test, traveling to No. 5 Pitt on Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The last time the teams met was in an exhibition game in 2022 in East Lansing with the Panthers coming out on top 1-0.
"One of my favorite days of the year is the first day of preseason, just seeing all the guys when you haven't been around them for three months," MSU head coach Damon Rensing said. "This is my 25th year between being an assistant coach and a head coach, and I still get butterflies. One of the cool things about this job is that every year there is a new team. You get re-energized every year."
In its first exhibition, Michigan State got goals from sophomore forward Jake Spadafora and senior midfielder Vedad Kovac against Purdue Fort Wayne.
Pitt is coming off a successful season, ending the year 12-4-5 reaching the College Cup. The Panthers lost to a familiar Spartan foe in Indiana, falling 2-0 in the National Semifinal.
The Michigan State men will play nine regular-season contests this season, beginning with home games against Loyola-Chicago (Aug. 24) and Bowling Green (Aug. 28).
