
Spartan Women’s Basketball Announces 2023-24 Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball head coach Robyn Fralick announced the 2023-24 schedule on Thursday in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference. Once again, the women's basketball season is presented by MSUFCU.
MSU will play 16 games at the friendly confines of the Breslin Center, beginning with an exhibition against Davenport on Thursday, Nov. 2.
For the third-straight season, the conference will play an 18-game Big Ten schedule. MSU also played an 18-game schedule in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. The conference additionally had 18-game schedules in both 2015-16 and 2014-15.
Nine of the Spartans' 2023-24 regular-season opponents competed in the NCAA Tournament last season, including both of Michigan State's opponents in the Cancun Challenge, James Madison and Creighton. From the Big Ten portion of the schedule, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Purdue and Ohio State reached the NCAA Tournament, including the Hawkeyes advancing to the National Championship game.
The Spartans open the regular season with four-straight home games, beginning on Nov. 8 against Oakland, before facing Wright State (Nov. 12), Detroit Mercy (Nov. 16) and Evansville (Nov. 19). The Spartans will spend the Thanksgiving holiday at the Cancun Challenge, facing James Madison on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23) and Creighton (Nov. 24). MSU will end the first month of the season with its only true road game, traveling to DePaul on Nov. 30.
As the calendar shifts to December, the Spartans open the month with three-straight home games, beginning with Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 3. Michigan State begins Big Ten play against Nebraska (Dec. 9), before rounding out the home stretch against in-state foe Central Michigan (Dec. 17). The Green and White will face Coastal Carolina (Dec. 20) and either Richmond or UT Chattanooga (Dec. 21) at the Cherokee Invitational. MSU ends the 2023 portion of the schedule at Penn State on Dec. 30 in another conference showdown.
Michigan State will celebrate the New Year with a tough matchup against national runner-up Iowa in Iowa City on Jan. 2 before hosting Maryland on Jan. 9. The difficult stretch continues at Ohio State (Jan. 14) and at home against Northwestern (Jan. 17). Michigan State will move on to travel to Minnesota on Jan. 20 before hosting Purdue (Jan. 24) and in-state rival Michigan (Jan. 27). The Spartans close out January at Rutgers on Jan. 30.
In February, Michigan State plays three games at the Breslin Center and three on the road. MSU will face Minnesota for the second time this season at home (Feb. 5), before traveling to Indiana (Feb. 8). As the Spartans near the end of the regular season, MSU hosts Ohio State (Feb. 11), before traveling to Michigan (Feb. 18) and Purdue (Feb. 21). In its regular season finale, MSU will celebrate its seniors against Illinois on Feb. 29 before ending the regular season at Wisconsin on March 3.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held March 6-10 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The NCAA Final Four will be played April 5 and 7 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fralick was introduced as MSU's sixth women's basketball coach on March 31. MSU brings back eight returners and welcomes five newcomers to the 2023-24 roster.
