Tamara Durante Named USA Field Hockey U-16 Head Coach

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State associate head coach Tamara Durante was named the next U-16 USA Field Hockey head coach.
Durante is in her sixth season as the Spartans' associate head coach and ninth total in East Lansing has been a familiar face within the women's junior national team for the past 21 years.
Throughout her 21 years, Durante won a gold medal as an assistant coach for the Under-21 U.S. team at the Junior Pan American Games in October of 2008. Durante has coached in the Futures program since 2002 and served as the Great Lakes Regional Futures Director from 2003-05. She has selected athletes for various USFHA programs, including the Under-16 national team and Futures Elite.
Durante coached at the Junior Olympics from 2006-08 and 2010-13, winning a gold medal in 2012. She most recently served as an assistant coach for the USA Under-19 National Team and its successor, the USA Rise Team, taking home gold with the U-19 Team at the 2019 Young Women's National Championship and claiming the bronze medal with the Rise squad at the 2021 Young Women's National Championship.
"I am excited and honored to be selected as the U16 National Team coach for this upcoming year," said Durante. "I am ready to lead our nation's top athletes in this age group to success, while upholding the values and pride that comes with wearing our national colors."
