Nicolas Müller (Arisdorf, Switzerland) has been named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week.
Müller recorded a five-point weekend against archrival No. 15/14 Michigan. He had MSU's only goal on Friday, and then put together a career-best night on Saturday in Ann Arbor with two goals and two assists to help lead the Spartans from a three-goal deficit to a decisive 7-5 victory.
Now a fifth-year senior, Müller is averaging a point per game, with a 7-17-24 scoring line and is a +9. He is tied for third on the team in points and ranks second on the squad in assists. Eleven of Müller's 24 points this year have been on special teams - a goal and seven assists on the power play and two shorthanded assists.
Among active B1G players, Müller ranks first in career assists (57), eighth in career points (79) and fourth in total faceoff victories (729).
Müller collects his second weekly Star honor of the season and third of his career. He was the second star back on Oct. 10 for his previous weekend's performance against Lake Superior State, when he posted a goal and three assists to spur the Spartans to a season-opening sweep.
Müller and the Spartans, ranked No. 8/7 in this week's two national polls, host No. 9/9 Minnesota at Munn Ice Arena this weekend.
