WEST POINT, N.Y. – Michigan State wrestling earned 83 team points and had nine wrestlers on the podium en route to a third-place finish at the 2024 Black Knight Invitational hosted by the United State Military Academy on Sunday. Only Penn State and Army finished above the Spartans in a nine team field.
"Proud of our guys for battling through a tough field today," said Michigan State head coach Roger Chandler. "I'm excited to get back in the room and build on this weekend with some time off before our next dual."
Redshirt senior Tristan Lujan took third via medical forfeit at 133 pounds, and redshirt junior Luke Daly took third in tiebreakers at 184 as the two finished the day as the highest placewinners for the Spartans. Michigan State had six total wrestlers reach the semifinals.
Taking fourth place was No. 27-ranked redshirt freshman Remy Cotton at 197, redshirt freshman Max Vanadia at heavyweight, redshirt senior DJ Shannon at 165 and redshirt freshman Caleb Weiand at 125.
