Spartans Fall Short in 60-57 Loss at Home to Ohio State

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State led by 10 points at the break and had a 12-point lead with less than 10 minutes left in the game but could not hang on as Ohio State left the Breslin Center with a 60-57 win over the Spartans on Sunday afternoon.
Graduate forward Malik Hall led Michigan State with 15 points and seven rebounds, while graduate guard Tyson Walker added 12 points.

Michigan State falls to 17-11 overall and 9-8 in the Big Ten Conference, while Ohio State improves to 16-12 overall and 6-12 in league play.

- After leading by 12 points (50-38) midway through the second half, the Spartans trailed by one point, 57-56, after free throws from Ohio State's Roddy Gayle Jr. with 11 seconds left.
- Walker was fouled with 6.4 seconds left and hit 1-of-2 shots to tie the game at 57-all, but a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Dale Bonner gave the Buckeyes the win.
- Michigan State led by 10 points (32-22) at the break and had a 50-38 lead with 11:05 to play following a layup from Walker, but Ohio State worked its way back, using an 11-2 run to pull within 52-51 on a hook shot from Flex Okpara with 6:01 left.
- Hall hit a jumper with 5:40 left to give MSU a 54-51 lead but that was the team's last field goal for more than four minutes, until Walker hit a layup with 1:36 left, giving the Spartans a 56-63 lead.
