EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore guard Abbey Kimball was named Academic All-District®, as selected by College Sports Communicators.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Kimball had a breakout sophomore campaign, starting all 31 games for the Spartans this season. She was one of only three MSU players to start every game. She had a breakout sophomore season averaging 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 21 points against James Madison on Nov. 23.
In the classroom, Kimball, who is majoring in marketing, has a 3.71 GPA.
She is the first to earn the honor since Matilda Ekh and Isaline Alexander were both honored with all-district honors last year. Prior to last season, the last Spartan to earn academic all-district honors was Allyssa DeHaan in 2008-09.
Michigan State ended its stellar first season under head coach Robyn Fralick with a 22-9 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Big Ten play. The 22 wins were the most by the Spartans since going 25-9 during the 2015-16 season.
