East Lansing, Mich. – Six members of Michigan State's women's golf team have been named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, the organization announced.
The Spartans recognized were recent graduates Leila Raines and Valentina Rossi, rising seniors Brooke Biermann, Shannon Kennedy and Katie Lu as well as rising junior Paula Balanzategui.
In addition, incoming transfer Taylor Kehoe was a recipient following the completion of her sophomore year at the University of Alabama.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics as the minimum cumulative GPA for garnering the honor is 3.50.
The six golfers who earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors marks the third-straight year the Spartans have achieved mark, matching the school record first set in 2021-22 and matched last year (2022-23).
This was the fourth honor Raines and Rossi, the third for Biermann and Lu and the second apiece for Balanzategui and Kennedy.
All six student-athletes were part of a Michigan State team that was selected to participate in the NCAA Regionals for the 24th time since 1999. The Spartans finished in third place at the NCAA East Lansing Regional and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the 16th time under Head Coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll.
