
Michigan State Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 1 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - For the first time in program history, Michigan State women's soccer has earned the top spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, as released by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans are ranked No. 1 in the Week 6 poll after going 2-0 last week, earning a home win over Nebraska on Sept. 19 before a 1-0 shutout at then-No. 9 Penn State on Sept. 22. MSU is off to its best start in program history with an 8-0-2 (3-0-0 B1G) record this season.
MSU has defeated a pair of top 15 teams on the road this season, Penn State and then-No. 15 Notre Dame in its season opener on Aug. 15, while the Spartans' only ties have come to then-No. 9 Arkansas on Aug. 22 and then-No. 15 Xavier on Sept. 1. The Razorbacks came in at No. 2 behind the Spartans in this week's poll.
The Spartans are also No. 1 in the NCAA women's soccer RPI for the second-straight week.
MSU travels to No. 11 Ohio State on Thursday, Sept. 26 for a 7 p.m. match at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
