East Lansing, Mich. --Â Junior Charlie Stramel has earned Big Ten Second Star of the Week honors after his performance in MSU's split with No. 10 Michigan last weekend.Â
Stramel had a hand in three of MSU's four goals in a 4-1 victory over the Wolverines at Munn. He scored a hard-work goal in front of the net late in the first period that would serve as the eventual game-winner, and added a shorthanded tally – the first of his career – in the second period. He also had an assist on Matt Basgall's power play goal that opened the game.   The centerman had his second three-point game in the last two series, as he had a career-best three assists the previous weekend in a victory at Penn State.Â
Stramel's 8-13-21 scoring line in 24 games surpasses his 8-12-20 he had in his two seasons (67 games) at Wisconsin.     He has recorded 12 points in his last 11 games, and is second on the team in both points and assists, and has a +13 rating.  Stramel is third among Spartans in power play points (1-5-6), with a hand in six of MSU's 14 man-advantage goals.Â
Michigan State, ranked No. 2 in this week's national polls, hosts No. 4/3 Minnesota at Munn Ice Arena in a series that will have large implications on the Big Ten race- the Spartans are one point ahead of the Gophers with five series to play. Gametimes are 7 pm (Friday) and 6 pm (Saturday). Â
