East Lansing, Mich. -- Keeper Noelle Henning (Milton, Ontario) has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, as announced by the B1G office on Tuesday, October 28.
Â
Henning had four saves in a 1-0 road win at Nebraska last Sunday, with all her saves coming in a frenetic first half for the Husker offense. She stopped her first career penalty kick early in the game.
Â
Â
Henning posted her sixth shutout of the season against the Huskers, and in 14 games owns a 1.33 GAA and .735 save percentage. In her 10 Big Ten games, she ranks fifth among Conference keepers in both save percentage (.804) and goals against average (0.90).  She ranks third with five shutouts in her 10 appearances.Â
Â
This is the second Freshman of the Week honor and third weekly award overall for Henning – she was also the Freshman of the Week on Sept. 30 after MSU won games on the road at Minnesota (2-1) and Wisconsin (6-0), and just last week earned Goalkeeper of the Week kudos after home wins over Indiana (2-0) and Illinois (5-1).Â
Â
Michigan State is the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which begins on Thursday in West Lafayette, Ind. MSU will play the winner of the Northwestern/USC first-round matchup at 3:30 pm on Sunday, Nov. 2.Â
