East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's and women's basketball teams marked the official start of the 2025-26 season with the annual MSU Madness on Friday night.
The Spartans' annual event celebrates the start of the college basketball season for both teams.
For the second-straight year, Spartan fans started their night with Michigan State Madness, then headed outside for the annual Izzone Campout on Munn Field.
Doors to the Breslin Center opened at 8 p.m. and fans lined up to get the new 2025-26 team posters. Players and coaches for both teams were available for autographs and pictures before MSU Madness
The night began with performances from the MSU Drumline, Spartan Dance and Cheerleading teams and the Spartan Marching Band.
The women's team was introduced first followed by MSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Robyn Fralick, who had a good luck message from Detroit Tigers All-Star pitcher Tarik Skubal.
The men's players followed with their introductions and then the Detroit Lions and Michigan State drum lines took the court for a performance before MSU Men's Basketball Head Coach Tom Izzo emerged from a large drum for his grand entrance.
A video wishing the team good luck followed, featuring Skubal, Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell, Pistons Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman, as well as former Spartans Jaden Akins, Max Christie, Malik Hall and Mateen Cleaves.
The evening concluded with a skills contest from the women, a dunk contest by the men's team and short scrimmages for both squad.

The regular season starts on Monday, Nov. 3 when the Spartans host Colgate, the first of three-straight games at the Breslin Center.
