EAST LANSING, Mich. – Junior goaltender Trey Augustine and freshman forward Porter Martone have earned First and Third Star of the Week honors as announced by the Big Ten on Tuesday morning. It's the fourth First Star honor of Augustine's career and his seventh weekly honor overall, while Martone earns his first weekly conference accolade.
The pair helped lead Michigan State to a road sweep over Notre Dame last weekend, winning 4-1 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday to earn all six conference standings points.

He was the only goalie in the Big Ten to post a goals against average under 2.00 on the weekend. A pair of wins gave Augustine 50 for his career at Michigan State, making him one of just four active goaltenders in Division I to reach the milestone. His 1.32 GAA and .948 save percentage on the season rank third in the NCAA.
Martone tied for the conference lead with three goals last weekend, scoring the game-winning goal in each of Michigan State's wins over Notre Dame. The freshman scored twice in the first period of game one and once in the second period of game two. Senior Charlie Stramel assisted on two of Martone's three goals in the series. Martone leads the Spartans in scoring through 10 games with 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists).
The pair earns Michigan State's fifth and sixth Big Ten Star of the Week honors this season joining Augustine (First Star, 11/11), Stramel (Third Star, 11/11), junior Tommi Mannisto (First Star, 10/28) and senior Matt Basgall (Third Star, 10/21).
