East Lansing, Mich. -- Six Michigan State women's soccer players have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Honors: senior Maggie Illig (Troy, Mich.), and juniors Kennedy Bell (Charlotte, NC), Mimi Hallier (Lenexa, Kansas) Bella Najera (St. Charles, Ill.), Emerson Sargeant (Hartland, Mich.), and Renee Watson (Toronto, Ontario).
The six were acknowledged for their success on the field and in the classroom. In order to be nominated, an athlete must have at least sophomore standing, be a starter or significant reserve, and hold a 3.5 grade point average or better in their field of study.
Illig received the same honor a year ago, while the juniors all find themselves among honorees for the first time. Each school is limited to six nominees.
Illig will earn her degree in Kinesiology next month. Bell came to Michigan State from Maryland over the summer, and with her undergraduate degree already in hand prior to her enrollment at MSU, she is pursuing a master's degree in Global Health. Sargeant, like Illig, will earn her degree in marketing in December. Hallier is a mathematics & secondary education major; Watson is majoring in Data Science; Najera boasts a perfect 4.0 gpa and is a marketing major.
