
Women’s Tennis Inks Three Signees for Fall 2026

The Green & White will have three new additions to their roster for the 2026-27 season.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis head coach Kim Bruno announced on Monday that the Spartans will have three additions to their roster, as MSU has three signees officially signed for the 2026-27 season.
The additions include student-athletes Ariane Lesterhuis, Fredrika Runström and Nora Syrtveit.
"These three young women represent the future of Spartan Women's Tennis," MSU head coach Kim Bruno said. "They are not only proven winners on court, but also embody the values of hard work, humility, and unity that define our program. Their talent and character will elevate our team and inspire our community."
Ariane Lesterhuis hails from Winnetka, Illinois and attends New Trier High School. Lesterhuis is the No. 3 ranked women's recruit out of Illinois, ranked No. 130 nationally. The four-star recruit is a two-time high school state doubles champion, slotting the wins in 2023 and 2024 in Illinois. The future Spartan secured the first state title in tennis in almost two decades for New Trier High School, and then became the first player in the school's history to secure back-to-back titles.
Fredrika Runström comes to the United States from Hollviken, Sweden. Born in 2007, the Swede is a highly decorated tennis player, and one of the top women's players coming out of Sweden for the 2026-27 season.
Runström has earned various accolades, including being a TE12 singles and two-time TE12 and TE14 doubles finalist, ITF titles including being a doubles finalist in J60 Hanko, J100 Limassol, a semi-finalist in the J60Malmo and a J60 Leiria singles semi-finalist. In addition, Runström was the Swedish Champion in the FS12 and FD12 outdoor, a semi-finalist in the FD16 outdoor, a semi-finalist in the FS16 and FD16 indoor championships and a FS18 and FD18 indoor competitor.
The FS and FD competitions are Swedish National Junior tennis championship categories, where Runström competes on the Swedish Champion Team. Runström was a finalist for the F15 team and officially made the F18 team.
Nora Syrtveit travels to MSU from Oslo, Norway where she is a top ranked player in her class. Syrtveit is yet another exceptionally decorated athlete, coming in second place in U16 national singles twice, winning U19 national singles once, coming in second place at U19 national singles twice, securing U19 national doubles twice and overall coming in third place in Norway women's national singles.
Syrtveit has represented Norway in both the individual and team European championships, competing in U16 individuals once, U18 individuals twice and U16 team championships twice. In addition, Syrtveit has slated ITF J30 singles and doubles wins, an ITF J60 doubles win, two women's national doubles titles and was on the winning national team five times.
Lesterhuis, Runström and Syrtveit will be welcomed to Michigan State in the fall of 2026 and are set to compete throughout the 2026-27 season.
