
MSU Athletics Announces PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2025-26 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
The first honorees of the 2025-26 season are Taylah Holdem (volleyball), Zac Kelly (men's soccer) and Michael Masunas (football).
Holdem is a native of Christchurch, New Zealand, and has a 3.87 GPA as a human development and family studies major. She is on track to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors for the second year in a row in 2025. Holden has played 32 sets over 13 matches this season for the 16-6 Spartans, and recorded a career-high 26 kills against Western Michigan this season, the third-best single-match kill total in a four-set match in the Big Ten this season.
Senior Zac Kelly has had a very successful Spartan career, both on and off the field. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, the crop and soil sciences major has a 3.80 GPA and has served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) since 2022, including vice president in 2024-25. Kelly, who is from Holt, Michigan, has been active in the community as well, helping at the Red Cross Blood Drive, March is Reading Month, Student-Athlete Food Drive, Teams for Toys and Joe's Kids.
Kelly has started every game this season in goal for the Spartans. The reigning Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year is currently tied for third in the Big Ten in shutouts with five. He has 17 career clean sheets, which is eighth all-time in the MSU record books.
A redshirt junior tight end from Tucson, Arizona, Masunas owns a 3.87 GPA as a management major and is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honoree. Through nine games this season, including six starts, he has posted career highs in receptions (11), receiving yards (136) and touchdown catches (3). He has also participated in several community events, including trips to the Sparrow Pediatric Ward and Mt. Hope Steam at Woodcreek, in addition to helping at Be the Match and Spooktacular.
