Women’s Golf Tied for Sixth Place at Spartan Sun Coast Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Senior Brooke Biermann is tied for fourth place individually and Michigan State's women's golf team is tied for sixth place among 15 teams after the first day of play at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational, being held at the Palm Aires Champions Course in Sarasota, Fla.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament on the par-72, 6,191-yard Palm Aires Champions Course concludes on Monday, Feb. 17 (8:30 a.m. shotgun start).
Day One Results
Oklahoma leads the field at 2-under par 574, with Ohio State in second place at even-par 576, the College of Charleston is in third place at 1-over par 577, while Michigan and Georgia Southern are tied for fourth place with scores of 6-over par 582.
The Spartans are tied for sixth place with Illinois and Kent State at 7-over par 583 (296-287).
Biermann posted consecutive rounds of 1-under par 71 to lead the Spartans and is tied for fourth place in the field of 81 golfers at 2-under par 142.
Junior Taylor Kehoe is tied for 16th place at 1-over par 145 (73-72), while junior Paula Balanzategui is one shot back, tied for 23rd place at 2-over par 146.
Rounding out the scoring lineup, senior Katie Lu is tied for 48th place at 6-over par 150 (76-74) and sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 72nd place at 11-over par 155 (77-78).
Freshman Catalina Monroy, playing as an individual, is tied for 35th place at 4-over par 148 (74-74). Junior Amelie Weber is tied for 64th place at 9-over par 153 (80-73) and senior Shannon Kennedy is tied for 72nd place at 11-over par 155 (80-75).
