Spartans Tie for Eighth Place at Watersound Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team shot a 1-under par 863 over three rounds and tied for seventh place among 12 teams at the Watersound Invitational, hosted by Florida State at Sharks Tooth Golf Course in Lake Powell, Fla.
The 54-hole tournament, which featured six teams ranked among the top-25 in the country, was played on the par-72, 7,246-yard course at Shark's Tooth.
The teams were originally slated to play 18 holes on Tuesday before closing out with 18 holes on Wednesday, but inclement weather in the area forced the teams to play 36 holes on Tuesday to finish the tournament.
Host Florida State fired a 26-under par 838 to top the 12-team field, with Alabama second at 17-under par 847, UCLA third at 13-under par 851, Georgia Tech fourth at 12-under par 852 and Vanderbilt rounded out the top-five teams at 11-under par 853.
The Spartans tied for eighth place at 1-under par 863 (287-289-287).
Junior Caleb Bond tied for 12th place to lead Michigan State at 4-under par 212 (69-69-74).
Sophomore Lucas Acevedo shot a 2-under par 70 in the final round and tied for 14th place at 3-under par 213 (70-73-70).
Freshman Julian Menser tied for the team low round of the day at 2-under par 70 and tied for 39th place at 2-over par 218 (74-74-70).
Freshmen Drew Miller tied for 49th place ta 5-over par 221 (74-74-73) and sophomore Lorenzo Pinili tied for 54th place at 7-over par 223 (75-73-75).
The Spartans are back on the course on Sunday, March 2 and Monday, March 3, hosting the Colleton River Collegiate at the Dye Course in the Bluffton, S.C.
