Michigan State Athletics Announces PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month for February

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2024-25 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
The February honorees feature Julia Bishop (volleyball), Xavier Booker (men's basketball) and Tanner Kelly (ice hockey).
Bishop finished her career in Green & White this past fall as one of five three-time team captains in program history and is the program's first three-time Academic All-District honoree. She has made the Dean's List six of the past seven semesters and owns a 3.70 GPA in computational data science. In four seasons Bishop tallied 1,761 career assists, 572 digs, 131 kills and 56 service aces. She is also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and has helped at several community outreach events, including the student-athlete food drive, accessible trick-or-treating, the Eli's Project Kickoff Fundraiser, and the GameChang3rs event at Riddle Elementary School.
Booker has played in 26 games for the 14th-ranked Spartans, who are currently in first place in the Big Ten standings with a 13-3 conference mark and 22-5 overall record. The sophomore forward from Indianapolis is averaging 5.7 points per game and ranks second on the team with 20 blocks. A journalism major, Booker owns a 3.58 GPA and is on track to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors following the season.
A senior forward on the nation's No. 1 hockey team, Kelly has scored six goals and tallied nine assists while playing in all 32 games. He has participated in numerous community outreach events throughout his collegiate career, including the student-athlete food drive, accessible trick-or-treating, and visits to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
