Jase Richardson Earns Third-Straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honor

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's basketball freshman guard Jase Richardson was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon for the third-straight week.
The Spartans, No. 7 in the Associated Press poll and No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches polls, swept a pair of games last week, winning at Iowa, 91-84, to clinch the Big Ten regular season title outright, and closing out the home schedule with a 79-62 win over then-No. 17 Michigan.
Michigan State has won seven-straight games to improve to 26-5 overall and finished the Big Ten slate with a 17-3 record.
Richardson averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists with 1.0 steal per game to help lead the Spartans. He scored a game-high 22 points with four rebounds and two assists in the win at Iowa last Thursday. Richardson followed that up with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in the win over Michigan on Sunday.
Overall this season, Richardson is second on the team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and minutes played (24.2 mpg), while adding 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He is second on the team in field goal percentage, connecting on 52.4 percent of his shots (119-of-227), including 38.8 percent of his 3-point attempts (33-of-85). Richardson has scored in double figures 18 times, including the last nine games.
Since moving into the starting lineup nine games ago, Richardson is averaging 16.9 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 52.5 percent from the floor (52-of-99).
This is the third career All-Big Ten honor for Richardson.
Michigan State, the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Big Ten Tournament, plays either No. 8 seed Oregon or No. 9 Indiana in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 14 (noon) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
