Women's Golf Even After 45 Holes at Clemson Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. — Michigan State's women's golf team concluded Day 2 at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina, posting an even-par 288 in Round 2 and a 7-under par 138 through nine holes of Round 3.

Due to Sunday's forecast, teams played 27 holes on Saturday and will have a shotgun start Sunday for the final nine.

The 54-hole tournament, spanning three days, features eight nationally ranked teams, including the Spartans at No. 23.

After 45 holes of play, Ohio State leads the field at 35-under par 681, followed by Arkansas at 27-under par 690, Tennessee at 23-under par 693, LSU at 22-under par 697, and rounding out the top five is SMU at 17-under par 699. The Spartans sit 10th at even-par 721.

As it stands, nine teams are under par, and the Spartans are even.

Senior Brooke Biermann and freshman Paula Balanzategui finished Day 2 tied for 34th place. Biermann posted a Round 2 score of even-par 72 and a nine-hole Round 3 score of even-par 36. Overall, Biermann is 1-under par 179 in the tournament. Balanzategui shot a 1-under par 71 in Round 2 and a 4-under par 33 through nine in Round 3. The freshman is 1-under-par 180 overall.

Senior Katie Lu scored a 2-over-par 72 in Round 2 and a 2-under par 34 through nine in Round 3. Lu is in 49th place for the tournament with an overall score of 3-over par 183.

Sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia is in 53rd place after posting a 1-under par 71 in Round 2 and 4-over-par 40 through nine in Round 3.

Freshman Catalina Monroy is in 68th place after a second-round 5-over par 77 and a 1-under par 35 through nine in Round 3

Playing as an individual, senior Shannon Kennedy went even-par 72 in Round 2 and 2-over-par 38 playing the front nine in Round 3.

In Round 2, four different Spartans had an under-par round (Balanzategui, Lu, Monroy, Murcia).
