Michigan State heads back to Sarasota for its largest regatta to date, the Big Ten Invitational.Â
Â
All 11 Big Ten schools, along with 12 invited guest crews, will race at Nathan Benderson Park over the two-day event. MSU will field entries in all four events for eights as well as a pair of fours, with racing scheduled on 10-minute centers throughout the weekend. Thirteen of the 23 participating crews are in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll this week, with six of the 11 Big Ten crews among the national top 20.Â
Â
There are three sessions of rowing – two on Friday and one on Saturday. Michigan State's NCAA boats and its 2V4 are grouped with SMU, UCLA, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Oregon State in the Friday morning session (four races between 9:10-9:50 am), with the second session starting at 5:45, where the Spartans will line up with Notre Dame, USC, Oregon State, Minnesota, and Clemson.  On Saturday, MSU lines up with Oklahoma, SMU, Iowa, and Clemson.Â
Â
The Michigan State 3V8 and 4V8 will not be clustered with their NCAA boats to race. MSU's 3V8 will go at 11:40 am on Friday against Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, USC and Clemson, line up with Clemson, Rutgers, Duke, MIchigan, and Notre Dame on Friday at 2:35,  and then on Saturday morning will line up with Iowa, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Clemson at 8:50 am.  The 4V8 races at noon Friday against Iowa, Miami, Rutgers and Wisconsin, heads back to the course for a three-boat race against Ohio State and Wisconsin at 2:55, and then is the final race of the Saturday session at 12:30 pm in an all-B1G field, against Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
