Three Among the Top-10, Women’s Golf in Fourth Place at Big Ten Championship

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 4-over par 292 in the opening round and is in fourth place among 18 teams after the first day of play at the Big Ten Championship.
The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at Bulle Rock Golf Course (par 72, 6,325 yards) in Havre de Grace, Md.

The Spartans had three players post scores of even-par 72 and finished at 4-over par 292 to stand in fourth place, just six strokes off the lead.
Oregon and Illinois lead the field at 6-under par 282, with Ohio State in third place at even-par 288, the Spartans in fourth and Northwestern rounds out the top-five teams at 5-ove par 293.
Seniors Katie Lu and Brooke Biermann, as well as junior Taylor Kehoe, posted scores of even-par 72 and are tied for 10th place to lead the Spartans. Lu and Kehoe each finished with rounds that included three birdies and 12 pars, respectively, while Biermann had two birdies and 14 pars.
Junior Paula Balanzategui is tied for 47th place at 4-over par 76 and sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 68th place at 6-over par 78.
The Spartans will tee off in Saturday's second round, playing alongside Northwestern and Wisconsin.
