
Bianca Smith Joins Michigan State Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head women's basketball coach Robyn Fralick announced the hiring of Bianca Smith as assistant coach on Thursday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Bianca Smith to the Michigan State women's basketball program," Fralick said. "Her energy, enthusiasm for basketball, work ethic and investment in relationships will be great additions to the program. Bianca has coached at all levels, working her way up in the coaching ranks, and she has also played at the highest level. We are so excited about her impact on our program and the infusion of energy she will bring every day."
Smith, a native of Missouri City, Texas comes to Michigan State after one season at Colorado, where she worked primarily with the perimeter players.
Prior to Colorado, she spent four seasons at Lamar from 2020-2024. She helped lead the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. In 2023 under her guidance, Lamar reached the Southland Conference Tournament championship game. During her final season at Lamar, she was promoted associate head coach.
Smith also spent four seasons at Loyola Chicago as an assistant coach, helping the Ramblers to their first winning season since 2011-12. She also was both an video coordinator and an assistant coach at Rice from 2012-15. She also was the Director of Basketball Operations at Pittsburgh during the 2015-16 season.
She is a 2010 graduate of Colorado, where she scored 1,138 career points and left Boulder as the individual season (82) and career record holder (257) for 3-pointers scored. Smith ended her Buff career as a four-time letterwinner and was the 2010 Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year. She graduated with a degree in sociology.
