Crews Head to Bloomington For Weekend Racing

Michigan State heads to Bloomington, Indiana for the 16th annual Dale England Cup this Saturday (April 26). MSU will line up for the racing on Lake Lemon with host Indiana and Notre Dame for this year's races. Indiana comes in at No. 17 in this week's national poll.Â

MSU has competed in the Dale England Cup since 2019, except for the 2023 races (and the COVID-19 canceled event in 2020). Racing begins on Saturday at 9 am with the fourth varsity eight/second novice race. The schedule will progress on 15-minute centers, finishing with the varsity eight race at 10:30 am.

All three teams competed last weekend at the Big Ten Invitational, a 23-team regatta in Sarasota that featured all 11 Big Ten crews in addition to 12 additional. The field featured 13 ranked crews, making it arguably the most competitive in-season regatta on the 2025 women's Division I slate.Â

DALE ENGLAND CUP SCORING SYSTEM
For each race in the following events, a crew earns the following points for their team:
Varsity 8 – 18 points for the winning crew, 9 points for 2nd
2nd Varsity 8 – 12 points for winning crew, 6 points for 2nd
Varsity 4 – 6 points for winning crew, 3 points for 2ndÂ

Tiebreaker - The higher placing crew in V8 event shall serve as the tiebreaker between two teams if the team totals are equal

The team that earns the most overall total points wins the Dale England Cup Trophy
