Field Hockey Announces 2025 Slate

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State head coach Helen Knull has announced the 2025 schedule for Spartan field hockey, featuring nine home matches, including a pair of exhibitions to start the campaign in August.Â
Three Big Ten opponents were in the 2024 NCAA Tournament field (Maryland, Michigan, and defending B1G regular-season and national champion Northwestern), in addition to two non-conference opponents who earned their league's automatic bids into the tournament (Vermont and Miami).Â
The Spartans will host a pair of exhibition games in mid-August, welcoming both Central Michigan (Aug. 15) and Michigan (Aug. 22) to Ralph Young Field for pre-season measuring sticks.Â
The season officially begins Labor Day weekend, with a pair of non-conference games at Louisville – MSU will take on the Cardinals (Aug. 29) before a match against Ohio (Aug. 30).Â
MSU has just one home game in the month of September, welcoming Bellarmine to East Lansing on Friday, Sept. 5. What follows is three weekends on the road, first to the Northeast (at Vermont Sept. 12, and at Merrimack Sept. 14), games at Michigan (Sept. 19) and Miami (Sept. 21), and to central Pennsylvania to take on Penn State (Sept. 26) and Bucknell (Sept. 28).Â
The reward for three straight road weekends is three straight home weekends to open October. MSU welcomes Big Ten foes Rutgers (Oct. 3) and Maryland (Oct. 5), non-conference opponents Appalachian State (Oct. 12) and Ball State (Oct. 14) before closing out a five-game homestand against Ohio State (Oct. 19).  A trio of B1G games come at Iowa (Oct. 23), Indiana (Oct. 26) and at home against Northwestern (Oct. 31) follow, and MSU closes out its regular season with a home game against in-state rival Central Michigan on Sunday Nov. 2.Â
