This is the 50th regatta in Sprints history,  with Lake Quinsigamond welcoming 26 crews for a full slate of Sunday racing. Morning heats will lead directly into afternoon finals, with races going off on 10-minute centers. Racing begins at 8 am and concludes with the Varsity Eight grand final at 5:10 pm.
The field consists of many eastern-based crews, including five Ivies and five Boston-based crews. Seven members of the field are ranked in this week's CRCA national poll: No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 Princeton, No. 7 Rutgers, No. 8 Brown, No. 14 Harvard/Radcliffe, No. 19 Columbia-Barnard, and No. 21 Dartmouth
Four Big Ten crews are in the top 25 this week: Rutgers, No. 10 Michigan, No. 17 Indiana, and No. 18 Ohio State.  Â
Â
MSU will have entries in all four eights races as well as the varsity four. MSU's varsity eight has been its most consistent boat, with the same lineup in all races to date and with speed increasing as the season has worn on. The V8 is coming off a second-place finish at the Dale England Cup against No. 17 Indiana and Notre Dame, where it was in contact with the Hoosiers at the finish and 10 seconds ahead of the Irish. The top novice boat (3V8) was also second in its race, delivering a 30-second margin over third-place IU.Â
Â
These will be MSU's final races until the Big Ten Championships, which will be held May 17-18 in Indianapolis.Â
