Five Spartans Receive Summer Callups

East Lansing, Mich. -- Five Michigan State soccer players have received summer callups for national team action, as announced by the governing bodies over the last week. Three of the five will be newcomers to the MSU roster this fall, bolstering a strong foundation that returns to East Lansing fresh off back-to-back NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and Big Ten titles in two of the last three seasons.
Senior Allie Mairn (Grand Rapids, Mich.) has earned her fifth callup with Team Latvia. She has already played in seven matches for Latvia's women's national team, including UEFA Nations League and UEFA Euro Qualifiers. Her first training camp came back in February 2024. She returns to East Lansing this fall to help anchor a Spartan defense that shut out 10 opponents a year ago.
Rising junior Bella Najera (St. Charles, Ill.) and transfer Kennedy Bell (Charlotte, NC) are among the 24 players called up to the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team training camp being held from May 26-June 2 in Fayetteville, Ga. This programming for the 2005 birth years to continue their growth in the U.S. WNT programs with hopes of moving along the pathway to U.S. U-23 WNT and beyond. Bell, a defender, joins MSU this fall after two seasons at Maryland; Najera has led the Spartans in goals in each of her first two collegiate seasons in addition to being named the Big Ten's top freshman in 2023.
Junior Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Ontario) has received her second senior women's national team callup with Team Canada. She got her first CAP with Team Canada at the women's international series in British Columbia back in April, earning the start vs. Argentina. She was also named the player of the match for her efforts. Briggs played in the CONCACAF U20 Women's Championship and Qualification Tournaments in both 2023 and 2024, where she recorded seven goals and three assist in nine games; she also competed in the U17 FIFA Women's World Cup in October 2022. Briggs will play her first season with the Spartans this fall after two seasons at Providence.
Incoming freshman keeper Noelle Henning (Milton, Ontario) is among the 21 players selected to represent Canada at the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in Costa Rica. The tournament serves as the qualification route for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in 2026 in Poland. Henning was just 15 years old when she made her debut in the Canadian youth program in 2022 and won a bronze medal at the 2022 Concacaf Women's Under-17 Championship in Dominican Republic. She continues to be a mainstay in Canada's National Team programming.
In addition to the five making summer appearances, incoming freshman Emily Graham (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was earlier this year named to US U19 Women's National Team, which played in the L'Albir U-19 Women's International Tournament in February against Netherlands, England, and Spain.
