EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team will play a home-and-home exhibition series against the University of Connecticut, starting this season on Oct. 28 in Connecticut.
The Spartans will host the Huskies for the return game in East Lansing on a date to be determined in 2026;
While the games will not count in the official series record, Michigan State and UConn have met eight times in the regular season and split the series, 4-4. The sides first met in a home-and-home played in the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons, with each team winning on its home floor before going on to win a national title.
The last six meetings have been at neutral sites, including NCAA Tournament games in 2009 (a Final Four win for MSU) and 2014.
The two sides have combined for eight national titles and are both among the 15 programs with multiple championships.
The last meeting between the teams was a semifinal appearance in the 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis, a 64-60 win for the Spartans.
Michigan State finished the 2024-25 season with a 30-7 overall record, including a 17-3 mark in the Big Ten Conference, as the team won the regular season title for the 11th time under Head Coach Tom Izzo and was selected to the NCAA Tournament for the 27th-straight season. The Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time and finished the year ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press Top 25.
